Polish pop punk outfit CF98 is making their return this fall with Stupid Punk, their upcoming album set for release on October 24 through SBÄM Records (EU) and Double Helix Records (US). Available worldwide on vinyl and major digital platforms, the album showcases the Krakow-based band at their most confident and creatively evolved.

Formed in Krakow and relaunched in 2017, CF98 has built a loyal following across Europe, the UK, and Japan thanks to their explosive live shows and their ability to merge classic skate punk with melodic hooks and high-octane energy. Fronted by vocalist Karolina Duszkiewicz and guitarist Mateusz "Mati" Półtorak, the band has solidified its place as one of Poland’s most exciting punk exports. “We’ve always loved skate punk, but this time we wanted to let in more of the sounds that feel real to us now,” says Duszkiewicz. “This record is about where we came from and where we’re going.”
The band’s name, CF98, has its roots in chemistry—referencing californium, the 98th element—and was inspired by their love for California punk bands like Blink-182 and Sum 41. “When we were younger, we thought a band name with a number was just the coolest thing,” recalls Półtorak. “It stuck with us and became part of our identity, even if not everyone gets it at first.”
With Stupid Punk, the band embraced a new approach to songwriting and production. Instead of writing songs together in person, the album was created remotely via Zoom with producer Pete Zengerle, based in Los Angeles. The collaboration not only introduced a fresh sound but also pushed the band to rethink their process. “Pete encouraged us to simplify things. We used to overcomplicate our songs, trying to prove ourselves. This time, we learned that being straightforward can be just as powerful,” says Duszkiewicz.
The album combines nostalgic punk tones with modern production and honest lyricism. Tracks like “Hate My Life” exemplify the band’s ability to blend frustration with humor and introspection. “It’s not actually about hating your life,” Duszkiewicz explains. “It’s about those moments when you feel overwhelmed, like nothing’s going your way. You just want the day to end, but it’s not a negative message—it’s about acknowledging those feelings and moving forward.”
Półtorak adds that the song also reflects his own sense of humor. “It’s dark, sarcastic, and real. I’ve said ‘I hate my life’ so many times, jokingly, and that phrase kind of stuck. But in the end, it’s a way to deal with stress and keep going.”
Beyond the music, the band sees Stupid Punk as a reflection of their outlook on life—an embrace of growth, honesty, and resilience. “This genre fits us perfectly,” says Duszkiewicz. “Punk rock is energetic, colorful, nostalgic. It reminds us to live honestly, be better every day, and stay true to who we are—even when life gets stupid.”
For fans of Blink-182, Millencolin, and Neck Deep, Stupid Punk delivers a fast, fun, and emotionally charged listening experience that proves punk is still about passion, authenticity, and evolution.
