Jay Bhatty isn’t just a leader in the energy sector—he’s an architect of innovation in an industry most people never see behind the curtain. As the founder and CEO of NatGasHub.com, he’s transformed how natural gas traders navigate North America’s sprawling pipeline network. And with the release of his best-selling book Nat Gas Millions, Bhatty is also emerging as a thought leader and educator, bringing transparency to one of the most critical—and confidential—markets in the world.

Born and raised in Mumbai, India, Bhatty’s fascination with energy began early, shaped by the frequent power outages of his youth. “Electricity shortages were a regular thing,” he recalls. “That sparked my interest in the energy industry.” After moving to the U.S. for college, he discovered energy deregulation while writing a research paper—and never looked back. Landing in Houston, the energy capital of America, Bhatty began his career in energy trading, where he quickly noticed a massive problem.

“I had to go to so many different websites, log into dozens of portals, and manage spreadsheets just to do my job,” he says. “It was like the early days of travel booking, before Expedia.” That pain point inspired the creation of NatGasHub.com, a platform that simplifies how natural gas is scheduled and transported across pipelines. Think of it as the Expedia of energy shipping—bringing everything into one streamlined, user-friendly interface.

Today, NatGasHub is the industry standard, used by virtually every pipeline and shipper across North America. With built-in automation, real-time pricing, and even AI integrations, it eliminates the friction of what used to be an inefficient, multi-step process. “Our platform aggregates public data, cleanses it, and presents it in a way that helps energy professionals make faster, smarter decisions,” Bhatty explains.

But Bhatty isn’t content with solving one problem. His broader mission is to educate the next generation of energy leaders. Through guest speaking at top universities—including Cornell, his alma mater—and energy firms across the country, he shares the inner workings of an industry that remains largely misunderstood. “There are brilliant students going to Silicon Valley to build the next Uber, but they don’t realize the opportunities in energy,” he says. “We need their minds here.”

That mission led to the release of his book, Nat Gas Millions: The Insider Secrets to Striking It Rich, which hit #1 on Amazon’s international best-sellers list. Part playbook, part memoir, the book unpacks the physical side of natural gas trading—from how molecules move across the U.S. pipeline system to the day-to-day decisions that can make or break a trader. It also features interviews with top energy traders and executives, many of whom share their insights anonymously due to industry restrictions.

“There’s a mystique around energy trading,” Bhatty notes. “These are national assets we’re talking about, and there’s a reason much of this information is confidential. But I wanted to pull the curtain back and help others understand the real opportunities and challenges.”

Whether you’re a young entrepreneur, an energy professional, or simply curious about the invisible engines that power modern life, Bhatty’s story is a masterclass in solving complex problems—and sharing the lessons that come with it.
