Emerging as a beacon of melodic punk, Bridge the Gap has captured the attention of music fans with its heartfelt lyrics and explosive energy. Following the release of their acclaimed debut, Secret Kombinations, the Salt Lake City-based band is gearing up to deliver their sophomore album, Gainsayer, in spring 2025.

Formed by longtime friends Chad Jensen (vocals/guitar), Shon Foster (bass/vocals), and Ryan Thompson (drums/vocals), the band’s roots trace back to the Southern Utah music scene of the 1990s. After years apart to focus on careers and families, the members reunited during the pandemic. “I started recording demos as a creative outlet,” Jensen explains. “Before long, we were collaborating again, and it all fell into place. We realized we had something special on our hands.”
Bridge the Gap’s upcoming album was recorded at the legendary Blasting Room studio in Fort Collins, Colorado, under the guidance of punk icon Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Black Flag) and Grammy-winning engineer Jason Livermore (Rise Against). “Bill’s influence cannot be overstated,” says Jensen. “He brings this incredible vision and energy to the process, particularly with vocal harmonies and arrangements. Working with him feels like having a fifth member in the band.”
Gainsayer showcases the band’s growth since their debut, blending catchy melodies, powerful riffs, and a raw punk spirit. The first single, “In The Throes,” is now streaming, accompanied by a live-performance-style music video. The track explores themes of resilience and overcoming inner struggles. “It’s about battling your demons and finding a way through without giving up,” Jensen says. “The video captures our journey as a band, juxtaposing vintage footage with live shots from recent shows.”
While Bridge the Gap’s music delivers a nostalgic nod to their punk rock roots, it’s clear they’re charting a new course. Jensen credits their dedication to crafting compelling vocal melodies and meaningful lyrics for setting them apart. “We’re committed to making music that resonates,” he shares. “This album builds on everything we’ve learned, both in the studio and in life.”
Despite their growing momentum, the band remains grounded, balancing their passion for music with family life and careers. “We’re not 20-somethings jumping in a van for months on end,” Jensen says with a laugh. “But we are committed to bringing our music to as many people as we can, in ways that work for us.”
With support from Double Helix Records (USA), SBAM Records (Europe), and Pee Records (Australia/New Zealand/Japan), Gainsayer promises to solidify Bridge the Gap’s place in the modern punk scene. The band plans a mix of regional shows and strategic appearances throughout 2025, delivering their music with the same intensity and authenticity that fans have come to expect.
As they gear up for the next chapter, Bridge the Gap’s message remains clear: it’s never too late to reconnect with your passions and make an impact. “This band is a labor of love,” Jensen concludes. “We’re here for the joy of creating and sharing our music, and we hope people connect with that."
