As the founder of Graasi, Chris LaCorata is redefining hydration through innovation, sustainability, and health-forward thinking—just in time for Men’s Health Month. His creation, Graasi Organic Barley Water, is the first certified organic barley water brand in the U.S., offering men an easy and refreshing way to improve daily wellness with functional ingredients.

Backed by more than three decades in manufacturing—25 of which were spent in the beverage industry—LaCorata brings a deeply personal and community-driven approach to his work. After witnessing the devastation of factory closures in his wife’s hometown in Western New York, LaCorata envisioned a way to revitalize the area through American-made, sustainable products. “We developed a business model that would support 400 jobs and 250 farmers,” he recalls. When the pandemic stalled those plans, LaCorata pivoted, channeling his passion into something smaller but just as impactful—Graasi.


What sets Graasi apart is its use of barley grass juice powder—not the grain itself. “It’s gluten-free, packed with antioxidants, and loaded with essential amino acids,” LaCorata explains. The beverage blends this superfood base with light, refreshing flavors like cucumber lime, citrus mint, and lemongrass ginger. Each bottle is fortified with vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc—key nutrients that support immune health and overall vitality.


LaCorata emphasizes Graasi’s appeal to men who want straightforward, effective nutrition without the sugar-laden pitfalls of conventional beverages. “We kept it under 35 calories, with just 4 grams of sugar. It’s clean hydration with real benefits,” he says. With rising concerns about diabetes, obesity, and chronic inflammation, functional drinks like Graasi are poised to offer real solutions in a crowded market.

Though it launched in 2021, Graasi’s mission is deeply rooted in longevity. “We didn’t want to be grandpa’s barley drink,” LaCorata laughs. The brand’s vibrant, retro packaging and upbeat marketing are anything but dull, with playful graphics that reflect its forward-thinking ethos. Yet behind the charm is a serious commitment to sustainability. From sourcing organic ingredients to using contract manufacturing that supports small communities, Graasi embodies a future-focused beverage model that’s as conscious as it is creative.


Looking ahead, LaCorata has plans to expand the Graasi line with additional flavors and new product formats, including powders. “We’re committed to leading a new health revolution,” he says. “This is just the beginning.”
